Robbie's Take

Fantasian is Finally Coming to PC and Here’s Why You Should Care

There is very little in this world that would get between me and playing an RPG made by Final Fantasy dad Hironobu Sakaguchi, double for one with a soundtrack composed by Nobuo Uematsu.

Unless, of course, that game was exclusive to Apple Arcade, which Fantasian has been since its 2021 release. I will not speak poorly of Apple, for I already have several other cults out for my blood.

Instead, I’ll simply celebrate the fact that, as per Tuesday’s Nintendo Direct, the game that Sakaguchi developed “thinking it could be his final game before retiring ” is coming to PC later this year, in ‘Neo Dimension’ form. Have a trailer.

Gaming Memories and Family Ties

Alright, let’s dive right in! I’ll never forget the first time I dove into a Final Fantasy game. It wasn’t just the sweeping landscapes or the intense battles that hooked me; it was the stories—the tales of courage, camaraderie, and that underlying note of whimsical adventure that made it all so special.

When I first heard about Fantasian, my initial reaction was pure excitement. The brainchild of Hironobu Sakaguchi with a soundtrack by Nobuo Uematsu? Count me in! Of course, there was just one small problem—it was an Apple Arcade exclusive. Here’s the kicker, I’m not an Apple user.

Finally, a PC Release!

So you can imagine my joy when I heard the news that Fantasian is finally making its way to PC. Think of it like waiting at the airport for ages and finally seeing your delayed flight start boarding. The excitement has been positively electric!

The announcement at the recent Nintendo Direct stated the game will be coming in ‘Neo Dimension’ form, which sounds like an enhanced version of the original release. This is a big deal for long-time fans of Sakaguchi who may not have had the opportunity to experience Fantasian due to platform restrictions.

A Game Worth Your Time

If you’re new to Hironobu Sakaguchi’s work, first of all, where have you been? Secondly, this game is a perfect place to start. The layered storytelling coupled with stunning visuals and a score to die for promises to be an unforgettable experience.

On a personal note, gaming has always been a family affair in my household. Whether we’re battling it out or collaborating on quests, the camaraderie and shared experiences bring us closer together. I’m truly looking forward to adding Fantasian to our list of gaming adventures.

So, mark your calendars and start counting down the days. If you’re an RPG fan, Fantasian coming to PC is the light at the end of a very long tunnel.
